THE EXCELLENCE OF HANDCRAFTED ART
Maison Laure Sélignac has been the premier specialist in embossed gold on porcelain since 1919.
The signature technique of embossed gold was refined in 1919 by Jean Larat. He perfected a delicate process that allowed for the application of thick, luxurious 24-karat gold in relief directly onto the porcelain. Over the decades, while our designs have embraced modernity, our master craftsmen continue to rely on these exact traditional foundations. Recently, an innovative new process has been introduced, harmoniously combining fine gold leaf with our ancestral techniques to create ever more captivating textures.
The Birth of a Masterpiece
Every porcelain creation begins with the finest kaolin paste. While the shaping techniques vary (modeling, casting, calibration), the goal remains constant: to transform the raw material into exquisite white porcelain. This is achieved through an initial firing, a resting period, meticulous enameling baths, and a final firing, all governed by closely guarded ancestral methods.
Our master painters then bring the white porcelain to life, applying vibrant color pigments entirely by hand. As each color demands a specific firing temperature, the pieces are fired consecutively with absolute precision. A single creation may require anywhere from two to dozens of separate firings.
Finally, the delicate gold netting and bespoke personalizations are meticulously applied by hand. At every stage, the porcelain undergoes rigorous inspection. Only the most flawless pieces pass our exacting standards; any item that falls short is respectfully discarded. Before leaving our Parisian atelier, each masterpiece is subjected to one final, uncompromising quality control check.
